ARSB Welcomes New Members at Orientation Event
Members gathered in Dhaka for an afternoon of introductions, shared experiences, regulatory discussion and a first look at ARSB redesigned website.
The Amateur Radio Society of Bangladesh (ARSB), in collaboration with the World Literature Centre, hosted an orientation session for its newest members on the afternoon of 8 August 2026. Held in Hall 802 on the eighth floor of the World Literature Centre, the event brought together approximately 35 members.
A Warm Welcome and Open Discussion
The programme included the distribution of ID cards to new members and the official introduction of ARSB newly redesigned website. New members shared their experiences and discussed challenges involving radio-set importation, Radio No-Objection Certificates (NOCs), call-sign allocation and customs clearance.
Members encouraged ARSB to continue engaging with regulatory authorities to help resolve these issues. ARSB leadership assured attendees that this work would remain a priority.

The redesigned website offers a question bank, online examination tools and beginner guidance.
ARSB reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive and well-supported amateur-radio community.
Continuing Engagement with BTRC
Speaking at the event, ARSB Vice President Nazrul Islam explained that the Society has already held several discussions with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). Topics have included upcoming examinations, a more efficient call-sign process, simpler NOC procedures and streamlined police verification.
ARSB expressed hope that BTRC will act promptly on these matters. The Society continues policy-level discussions regarding amateur-radio regulations and will seek support from the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) and other relevant bodies when needed.
We are committed to continuing this work for the amateur-radio community, and we look forward to introducing further improvements in the days ahead.â€

Prof. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed (S21ZAY)
Professor, Child, Adolescent & Family Psychiatry
Dr. Helal passed the amateur-radio examination last year and set up his station this year. He shared his early experience and thanked ARSB members for their support and cooperation. He looks forward to gaining further operating experience in the coming days.
A Website for the Wider Community
ARSB also highlighted its ongoing work to promote amateur radio throughout Bangladesh. The newly launched website is open not only to Society members but also to newcomers and the wider community. It includes a question bank, online examination tools and comprehensive guidance on getting started in amateur radio, with new resources being added regularly.
