From Ham Radio Service to International Research Recognition
Celebrating Dr. Deepta Majumder, S21HK—physician, public-health researcher and amateur radio operator.
Dr. Deepta Majumder (S21HK) is a physician, public-health professional, researcher and licensed amateur radio operator. His story connects service on the airwaves with meaningful advances in medicine, emergency communication and public health.
Service through amateur radio
Emergency communication, technical outreach and youth engagement
Dr. Majumder has been actively involved with ARSB since 2019, contributing to emergency communication, volunteer training, technical outreach and youth engagement.
Through ARSB and ham-radio activities, he has supported communication during crisis-response missions, assisted rescue and relief coordination, and trained volunteers in effective field communication.
Medicine and public health
Clinical service for vulnerable communities in Bangladesh
Professionally, Dr. Majumder serves as a Senior Medical Officer in a Global Fund-supported harm-reduction programme for people who inject drugs under Population Services and Training Centre, Bangladesh.
His responsibilities include HIV, TB, STI, hepatitis B and C screening; opioid substitution therapy; overdose management; harm-reduction counselling; outreach supervision; linkage-to-care support; reporting; and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Research with international impact
From cardiovascular care to infectious-disease priorities
Pediatric renal replacement therapy
Accepted in Elsevier’s Journal of Pediatric Urology, the review summarizes current evidence on clinical outcomes, treatment challenges and evolving best practices. It identifies gaps in care delivery and the need for stronger multidisciplinary management in resource-limited settings.
Growing global visibility
Co-authored research has been accepted by major publishers including Springer Nature, Elsevier and Wiley.
Molecular dengue research
In 2026, Dr. Majumder received funding from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council to investigate dengue at the molecular level.
Cardiac and neurological care
His research includes cardiovascular disease, pulmonary hypertension, acute coronary syndrome, congenital cardiac surgery and stroke rehabilitation.
Care and service delivery
Additional areas include palliative care, dengue and public-health service delivery.

American Public Health Association 2026 Annual Meeting & Expo
Poster presentation accepted
Dr. Majumder’s abstract, “Assessment of Adrenocortical Function Among People Living with HIV on Antiretroviral Therapy in Bangladesh,” has been accepted for poster presentation under the HIV/AIDS Program at the American Public Health Association 2026 Annual Meeting and Expo.
