ARSB Supports National Cycling Competition
The Amateur Radio Society Bangladesh (ARSB) proudly served as the official communication partner for the 45th National Cycling Competition 2026, held at the scenic 300 Feet Road, Purbachol, Dhaka. This large-scale national event brought together enthusiastic cyclists from across the country, representing different age groups of men and women, and highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship, endurance, and community participation.
The competition featured three exciting race categories designed to accommodate varying levels of experience and fitness:
- 15 km
- 30 km
- 60 km
ARSB’s Role in Communication Support
As the official communication partner, ARSB played a critical role in ensuring seamless coordination and operational efficiency throughout the event. The organization deployed a team of more than 20 trained volunteer radio operators, strategically positioned at key locations, including:
- Start and finish lines
- Checkpoints along the route
- Hydration and support stations
- Emergency Medical Support & First Aid
- Real time update to the control center
To facilitate uninterrupted communication, ARSB established UHF base radio stations at both the starting and finishing points and operated handheld radio units across various points along the cycling track. Despite the absence of amateur radio repeater infrastructure in Bangladesh, the team successfully maintained reliable and continuous communication through direct radio links. The availability of repeater systems in the future would further enhance communication coverage, efficiency, and coordination for such large-scale events.
Volunteer Support Contributions
ARSB volunteers made significant contributions to the safety and overall success of the event through several key operational functions:
-
Ambulance Coordination
Ensured rapid response to any medical emergencies by maintaining continuous communication with medical teams and ambulance services. -
Hydration Point Management
Supported logistical operations through effective coordination of designated water and support stations along the race route. -
Race Monitoring and Communication
Provided real-time updates, tracked race progress, and enabled efficient coordination between event organizers, officials, and field teams.
Impact and Significance
The professionalism, discipline, and dedication demonstrated by ARSB members ensured that the event proceeded smoothly without major disruptions. Their performance highlighted the critical importance of structured and reliable communication systems in managing large-scale public events.
This successful collaboration reaffirmed the vital role of amateur radio in modern event management. In situations where traditional communication networks may become congested or unreliable, amateur radio operators provide a dependable, flexible, and efficient alternative for real-time coordination and emergency response.
Commitment to Training and Community Service
Equally noteworthy was the strong spirit of teamwork and volunteerism demonstrated by ARSB members. Their willingness to dedicate time and expertise reflects the organization’s core values and commitment to public service.
ARSB, a government-registered organization approved by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), operating under the call sign S21AHQ, regularly participates in and supports such events. These engagements serve not only as community service initiatives but also as practical training opportunities for amateur radio operators. Through these activities, operators gain hands-on experience in communication, coordination, and emergency response, while strengthening their ability to effectively communicate over radio networks. Thanks to all Amateur Radio Operators and Member for their excellent contribution.
