Bangladesh’s amateur radio community reached a new milestone as more than 900 candidates took part in the 2025 Amateur Radio Examination—the largest participation ever recorded in the country.

A landmark day for amateur radio

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) conducted the examination on May 9, 2025. The unprecedented turnout reflects the growing public interest in amateur radio as a rewarding technical hobby, a platform for learning, and a dependable communication resource during emergencies.

This historic participation signals a vibrant future for Bangladesh’s amateur radio community and a new generation eager to develop practical skills in radio communication, electronics, antennas, and public service.

Why this matters
More licensed and trained operators can strengthen technical education, community communication, and emergency-response capability across Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Vespa Community joins the movement

A significant number of members from the Bangladesh Vespa Community (BVC) also participated in this year’s examination. Widely known for their enthusiasm for Vespa scooters, community service, and humanitarian activities, BVC members are now expanding their skills into amateur radio communication.

Their participation demonstrates how amateur radio can bring together people from different interests and backgrounds while supporting a shared commitment to service and emergency preparedness.

ARSB’s role in preparing future operators

The Amateur Radio Society of Bangladesh (ARSB) played an important role in helping aspiring operators prepare for the examination. ARSB’s learning and field activities included:

  • Free awareness seminars
  • Experience-sharing sessions
  • Online and in-person training
  • Practical antenna workshops
  • Basic electronics guidance
  • Field days and unity camps
  • Hands-on HF communication
  • Exam preparation support

Since 2018, ARSB—a government-registered nonprofit organization in Bangladesh—has worked to develop knowledge, participation, and fellowship within the country’s amateur radio community.

Moments from the journey

Training, workshops, field activities, and examination-day participation helped make 2025 a memorable chapter in Bangladesh amateur radio.
