With the 2025 Amateur Radio License Examination announced by BTRC, interest in HAM radio is growing fast across the country. To help curious minds take their first steps into the world of amateur radio, the Amateur Radio Society Bangladesh (ARSB) teamed up with the Robotics Club of BRAC University (ROBU) to host an introductory session on HAM radio — and it was a big success!
The event was held at BRAC University and saw an energetic turnout of over 50 participants, most of whom were students eager to explore something new and exciting. The session aimed to introduce the basics of HAM radio — what it is, how it works, and why it still matters today, especially in emergency communication and connecting with people all over the world.
Md. Ishraque Bin Shafique (callsign: S21BP) and Zubayer Al Billal Khan (S21BK) led the session with passion and enthusiasm. They broke down complex topics into easy-to-understand ideas, making sure everyone, even those with no prior experience, could follow along. Their presentation was both informative and inspiring, helping participants see how they could become licensed amateur radio operators themselves.
One of the highlights of the event was a live radio demonstration by experienced operators Mufid Islam (S21IM), Nazrul Islam (S21NZ), and Tahsin Rahman Abir (S21IT). For many in the audience, it was the first time seeing real-time HAM radio communication in action — and it sparked a lot of excitement and questions.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the Principal Investigator of the ROBU Lab, also attended the session and encouraged students to explore practical, hands-on technologies like amateur radio. He spoke about the value of communication skills and technical knowledge in today’s world, especially in fields like robotics, disaster response, and global networking.
The event was a great example of how collaboration between organizations like ARSB and university clubs like ROBU can create meaningful learning opportunities. ARSB continues to work hard to spread awareness and grow the amateur radio community in Bangladesh — and with events like this, the future of HAM radio here looks bright.
